Boosting your creativity can be fun, let’s look at 5 ways you can do it immediately:
- Invite yourself into a creative space. This could literally mean a physical space, or it can even mean a creative headspace. If you have just been plugging data into a spreadsheet, you might need to allow yourself some space to get your mind ready for creativity – this could be as simple as 3 deep breaths.
- Introduce a constraint. I know this sounds counter-intuitive but applying a constraint like a time deadline can add some urgency and give your creativity the adrenaline boost it needs to get moving.
- Introduce some inspiration. Try putting yourself in someone else’s shoes and thinking through how they would tackle this?
- Try another angle. Start somewhere different than where you would usually start. If you would start with bullet points, start with a picture. If you start by typing in a word doc, try a whiteboard instead.
- Find a buddy. Collaboration invites diversity of thought and conversation generates fresh ideas. Why do it alone of you don’t have to?!
