I recently listened to The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday on Audible. Below is my illustrated summary of what it taught me about myself. I stumbled into this inspiring world of stoicism as a complete newb, I had no idea what it meant. But I was very quickly enthralled. Firstly the timeless lessons of stoics from times gone by are fabulous to wrap your head around, and then add to that the thoughtful and measured approach that Ryan takes to laying it all out for you – captivating. This may have been my first book on stoicism but it certainly won’t be the last. Several more of Ryan’s books are now queued in my wish list waiting patiently for their turn to be downloaded. I am cautiously optimistic about delving into Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations at some point also.
